Pattaya Is Struggling To Vary It’s Tourism Image
Thailand has continuously been a chief stay on everyone’s vacation plans to Asia. Going to Pattaya is on the top of many peoples lists to visit in the kingdom of Thailand. The blend of naughty nightlife and a less than desirable ex-pat community has made it only a location that a certain sort of tourist would visit. This is one part of the city that the regional government has been working intensely to change.
There has been a large push by the Pattaya city council has been hard at work trying to revitalize the city’s image. They are slowly pushing the beer bars back or knocking them down so that they can put up new shopping malls and high rise hotels. One thing that keeps a lot of tourists away is the poor infrastructure of Pattaya, but they are working to improve that as well.
In an attempt to bring in tourists from all over the globe they have been advertising in many new markets. In an effort to get tourists from throughout the globe to try something new and enjoy South East Asia travel. This has led to a huge influx of travelers from across these regions. Whether or not this is actually a good thing is still being debated.
These new types of tourists come with a different mindset and don’t spend their dollars quite so freely.
This new breed of tourist is quite happy to spend the day at the beach and eating simple meals at the hotel. They are replacing a group of visitors that spends large amounts of money on food, drink, and a lavish lifestyle while they are in town.
This is causing a big impact on all the small businesses that have catered to the tourist masses for so long.
There is a big debate going on as to whether this decision was a smart one or if they should return to the old ways of attracting tourists. This new advertising could be the downfall of a once profitable tourist industry.
